CHILDREN’S CHOIRS
Primary Choir
Grades Kindergarten, 1 & 2
Wednesday, 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Room 207, Education Hall
Director: Sharon DeBoer
Some of rehearsal time is spent in fun activities such as rhythm and ear training games through Kodaly and Orff methods as well as practicing children’s anthems and learning some of the great hymns of the church. They sing about once a month at the 11:00 service, as well as at the 4:00 Christmas Eve service, usually with the Junior Choir. Rehearsal time is
arranged so that Primaries and Juniors can attend LOGOS immediately following the rehearsal if they so desire.
Junior Choir
Grades 3, 4 & 5
Wednesday, 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Room 210, Education Hall
Director: Ken DeBoer
The children of the Junior Choir are ready for more moderately advanced learning activities incorporating aspects of the Kodaly and Orff methods. They rehearse weekly for upcoming anthems as well as learning about great hymns and sacred music. They are capable of working with some rounds and canons as well. They sing about once a month at the 11:00 service, as well as at the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve service, usually with the Primary Choir. Rehearsal time is arranged so that Primaries and Juniors can attend LOGOS immediately following rehearsal if they so desire. Juniors can also participate in the Crescendo Chimes.
Both the Primary Choir and the Junior Choir were part of our Choir CD “From Age To Age the Same…the Hymns of Sardis” .

Music is a wonderful means for children to express their earliest praises to God, to learn Bible stories and the words of scripture through songs and anthems and to begin to understand the language of worship within the Seasons of the Church Year.
Children’s Choirs prepare them for future church leadership through actual participation in worship services and through fellowship with their church family.
Children learn to use the gifts of time and talents for God, establishing a life-long priority.
Fundamentals of music are enjoyably taught and built upon through weekly rehearsals.
