YOUTH CHOIRS

Chapel Choir

Grades 9-12

Sundays, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The Chapel Choir, High School and Middle School Youth, sings several times a year in worship. They sing, not only as a separate choir but occasionally in conjunction with other choirs, including the Sanctuary Choir and the Celebration Singers. They are responsible for the choral music at the Christmas Eve 11:00 PM Service. They sing a variety of music styles. They have participated in other church musical activities such as  dinner-theatres, choir musicals and the choir CD “From Age to Age the Same – The Hymns of Sardis”. Many of them attend the Montreat Worship and Music Conference each June. Their rehearsal is on Sunday evenings from 5:00 – 6:00 preceding the Senior High Youth. All Middle and High School Youth are invited to join them.

In an age when our children and youth are pulled in so many different directions, our ministry to them provides Christian guidance and instruction so that they will become anchored in the truths of scripture and in the fellowship of believers through the unique vehicle of music.

Our goal in youth music ministry is to bring the greatest degree of excellence that young people are capable of for the glory of God, and expecting the best from them as they minister to the congregation.  We particularly look for scripturally based music texts with messages of hope and trust in the promises of God that young people so desperately need in today’s uncertain world. 

The Christian fellowship that grows within a choir group is a caring and enriching experience. As well as becoming worship leaders, these choirs enjoy working together in other fun-filled activities such as dinner-theatres, choir musicals and every June, the Montreat Presbyterian Worship and Music Conference.
