 The Evangelism Ministry presents:

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

In Matthew, we are given the Great Commission to be evangelists.  Most of us find it hard to preach the gospel to strangers; we do not feel equipped.

During the church services on Sunday, May 3, the Evangelism Ministry will introduce a new program,  “Random Acts of Kindness.”

On that date, you will be given cards to present with your Random Acts of Kindness.   All of us are prepared to perform a Random Act of Kindness, and through this program we will become a witness for Christ and extend an invitation to Sardis at the same time!

Perhaps you could pay for a stranger’s meal or coffee, collect a newspaper for a sick neighbor, or anonymously send a supermarket gift certificate to someone who is out of work.  By leaving behind a Random Act of Kindness card, you will show that the kind gesture was expressed by a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church.

The Evangelism Ministry encourages everyone to think of Random Acts of Kindness each day, particularly in these tough economic times, keeping a supply of the cards in your wallet or purse.  Additional cards will always be available in the Narthex. the Gathering Place, and at www.Sardis.org.

"Your Random Act of Kindness was unexpected.  I was walking around in a fog, looking for hope.  Your generous kindness made me believe that people actually care.  And coming from People of God tells me God does hear.  Keep up the good work."  (Response from www.Sardis.org)

"We just wanted to say thank you for whomever did a random act of kindness for us on Sunday at Fuddruckers in Matthews, NC.  My husband and I went to eat lunch.  A ten dollar bill was placed on our bill to cover most of our order. We just wanted to say that was such a very kind gesture of love.  We appreciated it very much.  May whomever in your congregation be deeply blessed."  (Response from www.Sardis.org)

“Having to work on Mother's Day was depressing and I was in a fog, thinking I should be at church and having Mother's Day dinner with my family.  But no,  I had to work.

I normally pass through the McDonald's at Independence and Idlewild.  A car stopped and handed me the McDonald’s card and the (RAofK) card.  I called to see how much was on the card and it was enough for lunch.

I felt the spirit of God enter me. Someone cares enough to pass along the joy they had received through Christ.  I was happy for the entire day.  I felt great being able to have lunch and remember the people who made it possible.  I do not know their name but I had their card.

Thanks for making my Mother's Day happy and spirit-felt.  Continue to do great work in the name of Jesus Chirst the Son and the Father.” (Response from www.Sardis.org)

"A young boy by the name of Preston Lloyd was severly injured in a lawn mower accident. His family lives in the Mooresville, NC area. We were so touched by the tragedy and wanted to help in some manner. We dropped off a stuffed animal and some cash for his family to pay parking and cafeteria costs at the hospital. Preston has now returned home to his family and friends. Showing God's love through the Random Act of Kindness program was the perfect way to show that others care and want to help. Was at gas station this afternoon. Nice looking gentleman in a pick up truck approached me (In a nice way). Said he had a 4-year-old son in hospital, he was out of gas, out of money, etc. I filled his tank on my card & gave him the random act card and he was crying. I would not give him my name but, you could see he was very touched. This random act thing is kind of cool! ~ (Sardis Member)

“A gentleman did something for me at the gas station yesterday.  He handed me this Random Acts of Kindness Card from Sardis Presbyterian Church.  The thing that really got me was that the night before I was on my knees praying about the next day.  Then this happens and it really touched me and I truly appreciate it. Thank you!” ~ (Anonymous caller to Church Office)
