You may have noticed the recycling receptacles in the Gathering Place and in Education Hall.

For the next two months, we will be collecting aluminum cans for the Homeless Helping Homeless (HHH) political advocacy group sponsored by the Urban Ministry Center. This local group is the voice of the homeless made up of the Charlotte homeless. Their proceeds from the sale of the cans will be donated to the Charlotte Men's Shelter and to help fund the group's trip to Washington, DC to attend the national HHH convention.

So before you toss that Pepsi can in the trash, think about recycling and supporting this worthy cause.

2007-2008 MINISTRY

View The Charlotte Observer Video About Room in the Inn

The 2007-2008 season ended March 30, and Sardis was host to hundreds of homeless men, women, and children who otherwise would have been left out in the cold. We provided transportation to and from the church, a hearty dinner, Christian fellowship, a hot shower, a comfortable bed, a warm breakfast, and a bag lunch.

We would like to thank the over 500 Sardis church volunteers who made this ministry possible.

Plans are already underway for the 2008-2009 RITI season that begins in December.

Volunteers for RITI drive the mini bus; make up the beds, greet the arriving neighbors, join our neighbors for dinner and Christian fellowship, sleep over at the church, wake the neighbors at 5:00 a.m., serve breakfast and clean up for the next host night. Volunteers also plan, cook and serve the delicious meals. Note that Sardis has a reputation with the homeless population for scrumptious and nutritious meals.

If you are interested in being a part of the 2008-2009 RITI season, you may sign up at any time.

 Thank You 2007-2008  Volunteers!!

Working with the Room in The Inn ministry allowed me to help serve the needy and to fellowship with Sardis church members. The generosity shown by Sardis volunteers in sharing their time and talents was truly a witness to Christ's love for those less fortunate.” —Sheila Duyck
