CONNECTING WITH SARDIS ONLINE
ACCESS ACS-“MY PROFILE”

Access ACS.jpg

(Click above to learn more)

Last winter we wrote about the Access ACS database coming to Sardis.  This online tool lets you connect with Sardis in an individual and much more personalized way than does the web site (www.sardis.org).  We are ready now for members of the congregation to start learning this new tool.

Click on "Member Login" below.  You will be taken to the Sardis Presbyterian Church login page to enter your user name and password.  New users will need to click on “Get Your User Name and Password” first.  You then need to enter your name and email address exactly as it is listed in the Sardis directory.  Once submitted by clicking on “Register”, you will receive an email from Dianne Hull with your user name and an assigned password to enter Access ACS.

With your user name and password, you may sign in (though the first time you will need to create your own password) reaching a page called My Dashboard.  Across the top are headings: My Overview, My Profile, Directories, Groups, and Calendar.  Let’s focus on “My Profile” for now.

Click on My Profile and you will see Personal Information, Contact Information (addresses, phone numbers, email addresses), various other categories, and a list of family members.  To gain familiarity with Access ACS, we suggest that first you work to review the information about you and your family as it comes from the Sardis database.  You are encouraged to edit what information is there, updating or altering it as appropriate.  When you submit changes, they go to Dianne Hull, and you will receive confirmation that changes have been made.  Note that at the top of the page is a menu choice to “Report a Problem”.  Clicking there will bring up an email box to Dianne Hull who can respond also by email.

We encourage you to look through the rest of the My Profile page and to explore other pages within Access ACS.  In subsequent newsletters, we will guide you to use some of the other features available in this new connections tool.

 MEMBER LOGIN*

*You must login with your email address that is on file in the church office.

(Communicator article, 12/10-24)

Have you ever needed to email your Mustard Seed Group about a meeting change or a prayer concern? Would you like to be able to check your own giving records, update your phone number, or change your email address at your leisure on evenings or weekends? How about print labels or reports for your committee from your home or office?

A secure, private connection to the church database, accessible only by Sardis members, will be available in the near future at www.sardis.org. Details will follow in future issues of The Communicator.

You will be amazed by how this link will make our connections to the church and to each other easier and closer than ever before!

(Communicator article, 12/24-01/06)

In the last Communicator, Dianne Hull introduced a soon-to-be-available link to the church database.  That connection, known as Access ACS, is a secure, web-based application, but don't let that scare you away.  For us, it is simply a link to click on the Sardis website.

When we click that link, and enter our username and password (we will tell you how to get those later), we are taken straight to “My Overview,” basically our own space on the Sardis site. Think of it as a dashboard showing what we can do on Access ACS.

On that dashboard, we can use “My Groups,” “My Calendar,” and “I want to view my profile” (more on those later).  We can also view “My Contributions,” an online record of our giving to Sardis. Recently, while sitting at the beach, I logged on to check my own contributions, and all the details were there.  It even let me make a new contribution to one of my favorite Sardis charities. And of course, the connection is private and secure.

So look for more Access ACS information over the coming weeks.  We plan to Go Live! in early 2007.

So When Were You Born?

#3 in a Series: Access ACS

by Ed Shoaf, IT Committee

(Communicator article, 01/07-01/20/07)

We are talking about a new, secure, private connection for Sardis members
to the Sardis Church database. In the last article (all articles available at www.sardis.org), we talked about the “My Overview” dashboard, and I mentioned the “I want to view my profile” option.

This function is very cool. It lets us look at the information Sardis has on file for us and submit changes. We can review basic demographic information, email addresses (how often do those things change?), family information, and our Sardis activities.

Late one night recently, I looked at my own profile and found a number of things I needed to update. I especially wanted to update the information on my daughters so that Sardis could stay connected to them.

So why do I care when you were born? I don’t, but the database does. One of the most common missing elements in the church database is the birthdate. Missing that date really hinders Sardis from fully using electronic resources in its ministry. You can imagine the chaos that results if a minister tries to search on all young adults for a special activity, and a number of birthdates are missing. So when you click on “I want to view my profile,” check out and update your informationand be sure the birthdate is there.

What Group Are YOU In?

#4 in a Series: Access ACS

by Ed Shoaf, IT Committee

(Communicator article, 02/4-17)

In this series of articles we are learning about a new secure, private access to the Sardis church database that will soon be available to members called Access ACS.

One of the great features that will be available is the "My Groups" option.  Under "My Groups" you can see the present Sardis activities in which you participate.  For each one, you can print a directory of members of that group, print out mailing labels for the whole group, or better yet, email the whole group at once.  Leaders can create new groups and set up their activities.  And if you need any more information about a Sardis member, simply click on "Directories" to view a private online Sardis directory, including phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses.

All of us know that our best relationships at Sardis are formed in the various activities that we share with small numbers of other members.  The "My Groups" part of Access ACS will let those groups minister together better than ever.

Look for more Access ACS information over the coming weeks.  We plan to soon Go Live! in 2007.
