The Compass School (Kenya)
Crisis Assistance Ministry
Crossnore School
Heifer International
Loaves & Fishes
Marion Medical Mission
Sardis House
Second Harvest Food Bank
Society of St. Andrew
Urban Ministries
Allegro Foundation
Allegro currently conducts an after school program for children with disabilities in Sardis’s Fellowship Hall on Thursday afternoon.
American Red Cross Blood Drives
NEXT BLOOD DRIVE: Sunday, April 15
Held three times a year, extra hands are needed to greet donors and handle administrative tasks.
Learn more and register to give blood here:
Camp Holiday
Sardis is filled with joy and laughter during the summer when Camp Holiday, a day camp for children with Down Syndrome, is hosted on our campus. Extra loving hands and smiling faces are needed.
Community Link Welcome Baskets
Crisis Assistance Clothing Drives
Clothing is collected at various times of the year. Willing hands are needed to sort and deliver the donations.
CROP Hunger Walk
Join Sardis members of all ages in the annual Charlotte walk to alleviate hunger.
We are challenging each of our walkers to raise $150, which is requesting only $10 from 15 people.
Family Promise
In cooperation with Family Promise, Sardis provides a home for homeless women and their children for a week three times a year. The Francis House is used to welcome our guests and hosts and hostesses are needed from late afternoon until early morning.
Ten-Cents-a-Meal
Sardis receives this offering on the first Sunday of each month. These funds benefit hunger programs and at-risk-youth programming within our presbytery.
Habitat for Humanity
Sardis works with Habitat for Humanity of Matthews every other year to build a home for a deserving family. All skills are needed – from sandwich preparation to construction.
Hope Teams
Loaves & Fishes Food Drives
Three times a year, Sardis enthusiastically supports their efforts by holding a food drive for Loaves and Fishes. In these difficult economic times, the food security that Loaves and Fishes provides to many families is more important than ever.
Planting Seeds of Hope, Partnership with Rama Road School
Tutors and lunch buddies work with children at Rama Road School. Teaching skills are not required – just encouragement and support.
Learn more here.
Room In the Inn
From December through March Sardis houses 13 homeless neighbors on two nights a week (Sunday and Wednesday).
Learn more here.
Sardis Garden
Each summer produce from the Sardis Garden, planted near the Scout Hut on Sardis Rd., is grown, gathered, and delivered to local food pantries. Any gardening interest is encouraged.
Salvation Army Christmas Stockings
Society of St. Andrew
Gleaning is the Biblical practice of hand-gathering crops left after harvest. Society of St. Andrew volunteers glean fields and orchards donated by growers and then the produce is given to local food banks, pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and distribution agencies that feed the hungry.
Spaghetti Sauce Sunday
Please contribute spaghetti sauce on the first Sunday of each month to benefit our area food pantries. Leave your jar in the Narthex (parking lot side), the Education Building (under the stairwell), or the Administration Building (in front of the choir room). (Remember that non-breakable plastic jars or cans are preferred.)
Urban Ministry Soup Kitchen
Join a group to prepare and serve soup at the Uptown location of the Soup Kitchen.
Our Global neighbors become part of our families as we travel to their neighborhoods and bring their love home with us.
Disaster Relief & Repair
Working with the Presbytery of Charlotte Disaster Relief Team as well as other organizations, workers are dispatched to areas such as the Gulf Coast and Appalachia.
Haiti
“Blessings for Bayonnais” is supporting school children and a nurse in a remote village.
Kenya
An ongoing relationship with the Presbytery of East Africa affords support and mission trips to build places of worship for African tribes and to build and support schools and orphanages near Kikuyu.
Peru
Youth mission trips
Puerto Rico
Western North Carolina
Winterizing and providing handicap access are only two of the projects completed by youth.
